"Conversations From the Rack"

University Galleries presents:

"Conversations From the Rack" by John Yoyogi Fortes

Reception: Thursday, 11/12, 5-7PM

Artist Talk: Thursday, 11/19, 5-6PM

"Conversations From the Rack" brings past and present together, unearthing hidden works from studio storage and placing them in the gallery space to activate new dialogue. Through this merging of his past with a current practice rooted in cultural identity, Sacramento artist, John Yoyogi Fortes, bypasses a standard chronological timeline to explore what happens when different chapters of a creative practice coexist simultaneously.

Unexpected pairings and physical integrations begin to challenge the notion of the storage rack as a static graveyard, revealing it instead as a repository of living memory—an ongoing conversation waiting to be excavated and reimagined.
