Celebrating the Fall Season with Watercolor

Join local artist and instructor Catherine as she guides participants in learning to master watercolor techniques. In this 3-part series students will build up their skills week by week, and combine them and create a beautiful and inspiring fall painting.

October 3, 10 & 17th 10am-12pm.

October 3-Class 1: In the first class, students will practice layering watercolor for luminous colors that pop! while learning to paint mushrooms, fall leaves, acorns, and berries.

Students will review shading, water control, and learn about lights and darks that will bring your art to life.

October 10-Class 2: In week 2, students will learn how to make a loose wash with a wet-on-wet background and use salt to create unique effects. Participants will work on creating depth in their work while painting a variety of grasses and plants.

October 17-Class 3: In the final Week 3 class you’ll bring all your knowledge together from previous lessons to make a unique fall wreath. Combining various elements such as twigs, mushrooms, acorns and grasses.

This class is open to beginner and intermediate watercolor students. Materials for this class are not provided for this class.

Students must bring all required materials. Materials needed:

Container for water

Mixing palette

Watercolor set

Watercolor brushes

Heavy watercolor paper

Spray bottle

White paint or pen

Tracing paper (if you are uncomfortable with drawing)

Bowl or plastic container to make a large circle for project 3 wreath (week 3)

Pencil, eraser

Instructor Bio:

Catherine L. Taylor is a mixed media and watercolor artist.

A lifelong artist, she discovered watercolor in 2020, during the pandemic. She fell in love with its fluidity and meditative qualities.

She now teaches workshops on watercolor as a form of meditation and stress relief for both her and her students.
