About the event

Come join us at Folsom Powerhouse State Historic Park for spook-tacular evening tours throughout the month of October. These tours of our historic buildings and timeless trails, from the pioneering age of hydroelectric power production, are filled with true and grim tales from the past.

Hear real stories about the people who worked at the Powerhouse and see what dangers lurked for those who manned the graveyard shift. Take care, these morbid tales are not for the faint of heart.

Be ready to experience the Powerhouse in a way that most visitors never get to, after-hours and behind-the-scenes. Bring your closed-toe shoes, cameras, electromagnetic ghost detectors, and of course, flashlights.

Who knows what will be waiting in the dark?! The main powerhouse building closes to the general public at 4:00 p.m. and the Visitor Center closes at 6:00 p.m. Tours will begin at 7:00 p.m. and end around 8:30 p.m. These tours are recommended for brave kids over 10 years old, as we will be talking about the more gruesome stories from our Powerhouse’s past.

Dogs are also not allowed due to the tight terrain. There is a recommended donation of $5 that will go to our cooperating association, the Friends of the Folsom Powerhouse.

Our parking lot will be open and available for tour participants. Parking in our lot is $10, which can be covered by a Golden Poppy Pass, Historian Passport Pass, or other state parks annual pass.
