Sacramento's art deco movie palace, all neon and rose colored light, still running film and live shows under the same 1949 marquee. The two dollar nostalgia nights fill the room with a crowd that actually cheers. Acoustics hold up for live music, and the Empress Bar downstairs is worth seeing when it is open. Seats are traditional, so no recliners. Lines can reach the sidewalk on big nights.
