Capitol Park Bird Talk and Walk

Join us for a Bird Talk and Walk in celebration of California Biodiversity Week. Discover our feathered friends who live here or stop by for a visit.

Meet at 13th and Capitol in the park grounds for a brief talk before we head out in search of birds. Everyone will receive a bird guide.

Use your phone to take photos and participate in the iNaturalist Find 30 Species Challenge.

California Biodiversity Day, established in 2018, is a celebration that inspires discovery and connection to the nature of California while encouraging actions to steward and protect it. California is a global “biodiversity hotspot” with many plants and animals found only in California.

Discover the amazing biodiversity in our parks through fun family activities.

No bird watching experience is necessary. Bring a hat, binoculars and a bird book, if you have them available.

Great for all ages. Registration is recommended but not required.

The free Capitol Park Tour will follow this event, from 11:00am-12:30pm.
